Nursing Your Child

I would like to share some tips about the early post-birth scenario as well. To ensure that your child remains peaceful, start with concentrating on the baby’s feeding time. You need to be completely with your baby while nursing, that is, feeding, him. Nursing has to be one hundred percent between you and your child, without any outside distractions.

Nobody should be talking at that time, whether it is your mother-in-law, husband or yourself. Nor should you be watching television or speaking on the telephone while nursing your baby. This should be an exclusive mother–baby time in which the baby is able to experience your love and affection flowing through him sans any distraction. So, the calmer you are, the more focused you are and the more completely you are with your child, the calmer your baby will be. While feeding the baby, sing to him, talk to him, play some soothing music and just be completely with your child, and you will see the difference. Such babies grow up very secure because their mothers have focussed their attention completely on them while nursing them in infancy.

I have found that this is the most important part in the upbringing of the child in its first year. You can also play mantras (any that you like) while feeding.

If every mother were to follow this, their child would become very calm and peaceful. Please take this advice very sincerely; experience and share it with every newborn baby’s parents!

I have seen so many mothers highly distracted while feeding and, as a result, the children grow up to be very irritated and hyperactive!

“We have been observing the benefits of the implementation of the ISP on our son all along. One of the tips given in the programme, is that while feeding, the mother must be extremely peaceful and fully focused on the baby and must ensure that the baby is aware that his mamma is available to him completely and also listen to music that will calm and relax both the mother and the baby. I do admit that I did not implement it 100% as one has all sorts of distractions in the form of visitors, phone calls etc., but whenever it was possible, I would close our bedroom door and make an honest attempt to follow the same. As a result, our son is very calm, relaxed and composed, our bonding and our communication are so wonderful and strong that most of his friends’ mothers in his toddler class were amazed; this inspired them to do ISP, too.”

care after the birth ofthe baby

The birth of a healthy child solves many a problem. With proper nourishment and rest the child will grow normally. Furthermore, if acupressure treatment is given on the soles of the baby every day for three to four minutes, optimum growth and absence of major health problems can be ensured. We must not forget that children are very close to Nature, and so a good crop, viz, good seed, enough manure, water and light, is also essential for them. Children require a proper nourishing diet, the mother’s loving care and plenty of playtime which includes sunshine and rest.76 | PREGNANCY & EARLY POSTNATAL PHASE 77
