Excerpts from the book ‘Think & Grow Rich’ By Napoleon Hill.

When one is truly ready for a thing, it puts in its appearance.

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.

Before success comes in any man’s life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what majority of men do. For most successful men, their greatest success was just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them.

One of the main weaknesses of mankind is the average man’s familiarity with the word “impossible”. He knows all the rules which will not work. He knows all the things which cannot be done. Success comes to those who become success conscious. Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve.

Desire

Six Ways to Turn Desires into Gold

FIRST: Fix in your mind to the exact amount of money you desire. Be definite as to the amount.

SECOND: Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire.

THIRD: Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

FOURTH: Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once.

FIFTH: Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for the acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

SIXTH: Read your written statement aloud, twice daily. As you read – see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.

One must realize that all who have accumulated great fortunes first did a certain amount of dreaming, hoping, wishing, desiring, and planning before they acquired money.

We who are in the race for riches should be encouraged to know that this changed world in which we live is demanding new ideas, new ways of doing things. Out of all these demands for new and better things, there is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it.

If one thing you wish to do is right, and you believe in it, go ahead and do it! Put your dreams across, and never mind what “they” say if you meet with temporary defeat, for “they” perhaps, do not know that every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success.
