Ask anyone in the world if they want to do more and more in lesser and lesser time and the answer would be yes. That was the motivation for technology to be invented. Earlier we had landline phones then we had cordless phones and now we have mobile phones. With the advent of technology, we can do the same thing that we were doing earlier, in much lesser time. Yet we find ourselves having lack of time. Time is a big constraint for everyone because we want to do more and more.
Tip # 1: Meditate – Clear Your Mind
The secret of doing more in less time is to have a clear mind. That’s the most important thing. Clearing your mind. And the best way we have found is samadhi meditation.
Samadhi means sama and dhi, sama means samatva and dhi means buddhi when ‘buddhi is in samatva’, when there is no forward or backward, no past or future, no good or no bad,
no right or wrong, that’s the state of samadhi which is taught in SSY programme.
Meditation is the first step to get more done in less time.
When the mind is clear, your decisions are clear, the brain gets clear signals and actions happen accordingly. If you don’t know meditation, till such time that you learn it and till you do the SSY programme, just close your eyes, and be silent, take a few deep breaths, just be with your breathing for a few minutes. Once you feel the calmness, you may start your work.
Tip # 2: Organise – Prioritise Tasks
Prioritise tasks on the basis of urgency. Segregate this list into priority 1, 2 and 3, things which need to be done right now, things which can be done a little later may be after a few days and things that can be done even later may be after a few weeks. So the third step is segregating into priority 1, 2 and 3.
Tip # 3: Plan – Write down your To-Do List
List out all the things which you want to do during the whole day. It can be personal like taking your wife out for a walk or movie or dinner, it can be as simple as buying vegetables or an umbrella. It can be work related, from suppliers to customers to big visions and big meetings. It can be anything. Just make a total to-do list – a full list.
Meditate, plan, segregate, decide what to do and the last step is – act on it.
