Firstly, let us understand what is procrastination?

“ Kal karenge… baad mein karenge,…dekhenge… “

I will do it tomorrow, I will do it later on, I will see about it…

This is called procrastination.


Procrastination can be the most dangerous disease one can have, even more fatal than everything else, more than a health problem or more than a mental issue. Procrastination is the disease of the world.

So when I say disease, there two types of procrastination…

a)    when you are in a normal state of being

b)     when you are in a low state of being.

One is when you are feeling normal and another is when you are feeling not so normal or in other words we would call it low vibrational thoughts. We will look at low vibration and procrastination later on.

a)    When in a Normal State of Mind

When you are in a normal state of mind, procrastination definitely will not help you, in fact in could be detrimental to your growth.

So where does procrastination start? It starts with the small small small things…

Tip #1 Catch Yourself in Procrastinating

Catch yourself in procrastinating with small small things. It is  the root of all our procrastination e.g. We start our morning, we open the toothpaste, brush our teeth and we  leave it on the shelf unclosed — the starting point of procrastinating! Next we use our shaving kit, shave, leave the blade somewhere, leave the razor somewhere, leave the shaving foam elsewhere –beginning of procrastination! We come back home very tired, having driven our scooter or motorcycle, or our car, we take the key and just throw it around — beginning of procrastination! If we have a habit of reading, we read, there is a book shelf, we don’t keep it back in its respective place on the book shelf, we casually throw it around — beginning of procrastination! We return home, we lay down, we relax on the sofa, we throw our shoes anywhere—That is the beginning of procrastination!,

So procrastination becomes our habit. The person who procrastinates becomes very lazy and his self esteem about himself, his self image about himself falls very low and once we fall low, it becomes a vicious cycle, which does not help us on the road to success.

If you want to be successful, the first thing is to beat procrastination, start with paying attention to and rectifying these small habits.


Tip #2 The 5 Seconds Rule for Action

A very common area of procrastination is getting up in the morning. If we have decided to get up at 5 or 6 or 7 am, whatever time we decide, we get up at that time, put an alarm and we just get up!

This is the 5 seconds rule for all these actions. If within 5 seconds you do it, you have got it! You can beat procrastination!

. If we don’t do it in 5 seconds and if we delay for more than 5 seconds, there is a high or a great chance of us not doing it,so catch yourself. The 5 seconds for toothpaste, or the razor, or the car keys, or book in its place, or shoes, or even getting up in the morning putting off the alarm… once you put off the alarm, within 5 seconds just get up and move out of the bed!


Tip #3 The 5 Second Rule for Decision-making

The third one, let us say, you are going on the road and you meet a beggar, a thought comes let me give him Rs. 100, sometimes a thought comes let me give him Rs. 500, next thought will come are you joking, don’t give because if you will give, he will go and drink or he will spend it or lose it anywhere so let’s not give him.

Within 5 seconds, make the decision! The first thought which comes is actually on which you take the action on. It is a gut feeling!

And when I am talking about these, these are smaller action points, not the big decisions.


Tip #4  The 5 Second Rule of Spontaneity

The 5 sec rule here again applies when you get a thought that you want to take your wife out for dinner or a movie, or suddenly something spontaneously comes up and you want to do it. Then just do it if it is empowering or giving you energy. If it something new, exciting, enthusiastic, please go ahead and do it, apply the 5 seconds rule.


Tip #5  The 5 Second Rule of Expression

If suddenly you get a feeling — I love someone, I want to share something with him or her then immediately pull out the email or sms or phone and immediately express. When it comes for expressing to people, specially some empowering thought, empowering feeling or positive feelings, never hesitate! Always use the 5 seconds rule! Immediately send your love through the sms or email or voice mail or phone call or one to one.

The 5 seondsc rule is a very very important rule to beat procrastination.

The above are the 5 tips as far as beating procrastination goes, in small small areas in our daily lives.


Healthy Procrastination

Now come the big decisions– like if you want to shift your home, you want to start a new business, you want to take a big decision in your life in relationship or wealth. In such cases, you may take your time and think about it rather than hurry up in these decisions which require some thinking.

. b)    When in a Low Vibration Mood

There is another side of procrastination which is very very important to understand… When you are in low vibration moods and are experiencing feelings like anger, frustration, depression, irritation, revengeful thought, anxiety –during all these moods which you are in—there is a very key point to remember  which is — Always Procrastinate!

The 50 Hours Rule

Now this is very interesting… this is not the 5 seconds rule but this is the 50 hours rule!.

The 50 Hour Rule is a key point to remember –Always Procrastinate when you are vibrating at a low level or are in low energB

The 50 hours rule says that delay all your decisions, delay all your actions when it comes to low vibrational thoughts or feelings. Delay it for 48-50 hours so for the same thing, if you want to send an email, surely send it but send it after two days. You can write it down immediately but keep it in your draft and send it after two day!

For the same message, you will find, your thoughts have changed. The same anger and hatred you wanted to express has changed dramatically after two days. This is very healthy procrastination.

Finally, to conclude:

It is unhealthy procrastination to delay small small things .Always do them immediately. Beat Procrastination. Apply the 5 Second Rule!

When it comes to expressing negative feelings or thoughts, it is healthy to procrastinate.Apply The 50 Hours Rule!
