5 TIPS FOR WELLNESS

Have you noticed how one person can brighten up a room by just walking in and sometimes the very thought of someone stresses us out or raises our blood pressure? One person’s mention soothes our mind while the very mention of someone else grates on our nerves.

Why is there such a stark difference in our relationship with different people? Why do we feel such a drastic change in our own temperament due to them? This is because the person who exudes high vibrations all around is in control and in complete alignment with his inner and outer well-being. In contrast, the other person is not. And their aura affects our aura accordingly. A happy person will inspire us whereas a depressed person will always raise low vibrations in our being. If possible, we would all love to have only people with high vibrations around us.

To begin with, let us look into our own selves. It is true, like attracts like. We only attract people who are like-minded.

Despite everything happening around us, it is possible to vibrate in high consciousness. It is a process. And it is achievable. We have segregated this process into 5 steps wherein one level is followed by the other levels of wellness.

Wellness is a comprehensive word which not only includes physical wellness but other areas of wellness too. Normally we see and comment that a certain person is very healthy.

We associate health with physical health, but health is not just physical. It encompasses physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual health as well. As Dr. Jagdish Hiremath, a famous cardiologist from Pune, says, ‘Health is a combination of social, mental and spiritual well-being.’

Step # 1: Physical health

This is the first step towards wellness. It is taken care of by food, sports, sleep and physical regime. This keeps the body fit and trim. Having proper food habits enhances one’s energy and ensures replenishment of physical energy.

I have seen many people who are physically very fi t, have wholesome food habits but still fall sick and even develop terminal diseases. This indicates that care of physical health is not sufficient. We need to support it with pranic health.

Step # 2: Pranic Health

Add another layer to your well-being by paying attention to your pranic health. The body needs exercise but it also needs to be in certain positions so that the life force or prana can flow freely through it. This is achieved by doing pranayama and yogasanas which keep the body fit and flexible and allow the prana to adjust, remove blocks from our system and move freely.

People who keep their physical and pranic health energized may also fall sick because their mental thought pattern is low, negative and disturbed. So, this indicates that mental health is also very important.

Step # 3: Mental Health

This is the next level of well-being. You might come across a lot of people in life who are physically fi t but prone to depression, mood swings or stress. We commonly see this in

our current circles. This is a very important aspect and step towards complete well-being which is often ignored in society because it comes with its own set of taboos. Mental health

depends on the thoughts one has about people and oneself.

If a person is complaining about a situation, company, weather, friends, parents, family, etc., then defi nitely he is more prone to low vibrational energy and he will fall sick inspite of having good eating and exercising habits.

Some people who have all three; good eating habits, good pranic habits and also good thought patterns may still fall sick, if they hold grievances and resentment against their own selves and others. If their feelings are low vibrational, then too, they may fall sick.

Step # 4: Emotional Health

Emotional expression is something we don’t associate with ‘mature’ or ‘normal’ people. ‘Mental’ and ‘Emotional’- both words have negative connotations in our society and I think it is about time we started talking about it. If you observe a small child, when she is hurt, she will cry or yell and say so.

When she is happy, she will hug and shower kisses without hesitation. Somehow, when we grow up, we learn through society that expressing ourselves is not good or not befitting mature people. So, we learn to suppress our true feelings.

There are a lot of good people who are nice to be with, whom you might hardly know much about. They are hurt within but they portray that they are not hurt and put on a big, happy smile. I was also one of them, appearing happy to the outer world suppressing all my feelings. I would say, ‘Jaane do, kya farak padta hai?’ But deep inside, I would be hurt.

However, because of my ego and lack of portrayal of my feelings, I would go into a suppression mode which would take a toll on my body in the form of skin disorders. The

more we suppress our feelings and refrain from expressing them in a proper way the more we end up with diseases.

Further, suppression culminates into diseases which are terminal. In all forms of meditation (Indian or otherwise), they ask you to first deal with the emotional well-being which is surprising to most people and also very challenging.

This is because we have to let go of years of learning and practice of suppression of feelings.

I realized this at the age of 42, when I attended a workshop on ‘Compassionate Communication’ by a lady named Nada from Russia and started to express myself with one and all around. How to express when others are disturbed and most importantly when I am disturbed is an art which I learnt and practiced on a daily basis. This freed me of all my skin ailments and I became free mentally, emotionally and physically.

Step # 5: Spiritual Health

The last and the most subtle form of well-being is spiritual well-being. What is it? It is about thinking about the wellbeing of others. Mostly, people in the world are selfish and egoistic and think only about themselves. The times we live in have taught us, either through education or society, to be a step ahead of others and the importance of thinking about ourselves before we think about others. Commercial success is celebrated over all other achievements. A small example, which most of us would have come across, is that of a mother packing a special tiffi n box for her child. She always gives it to the child and tells the child: ‘Today your lunch box is special. Don’t share it with any one.’ She does it out of love because she wants her child alone to eat it. However, what the child learns is that he needs to think about himself first i.e. selfishness. We recommend that the mother pack another box and advise her child, ‘Today your lunch box is special.

Make sure you share it with your friends.’ We need to start thinking about the spiritual well-being of a soul from the time he is a child. Not when the child is completely stressed out, contemplating a drastic action and tired of life and then, after achieving all the above steps, fi nally realizing that step 5 is extremely necessary and could have been addressed as a child.

When we start thinking about others, caring about others, living for others, then something beautiful happens in our lives and this is called spiritual well-being.

When we balance our physical, pranic, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, we are termed healthy. Being healthy is then automatically associated with being a person with high vibrations.

So all in all, we need to make ourselves glow internally. When we are fulfi lled within ourselves, we will exude that aura towards the outer world. So, in order to be the light that brightens up everyone around, we need to first find the light within.

I was gifted with this knowledge of Super Health as well as it’s a practical experience by my master whom I lovingly call Guruji. I am deeply grateful to him for imparting this knowledge to me and millions of other people, through a programme called SSY (Siddha Samadhi Yoga) which I did when I was 25. I wish to share with the entire world this programme that transformed me and all the areas of my life thus giving me great health. My mother who was suffering from chronic insomnia was totally cured. For 20 years, she couldn’t sleep without taking 2-3 sleeping pills; it was dissolved just in 7 days of doing this programme.

If this knowledge has to spread across organizations, then it should begin from the leader. For every organization, team and group, there is a leader. The leader needs to walk the talk.

The leader is the one who is the spark, the light that brightens and leads everyone in the organization.

A Super Leader sees health from all perspectives and holistically rather than only from the aspect of food or exercise. He/She focuses on his/her complete well-being as well as of his/her team, leading the entire organization towards the achievement of their common goals in an enthusiastic and joyful manner.
